All About Alterations

When you purchase a dress from our store, we want you to be happy with the way it fits! Since formal and bridal attire does not always fit like ready-to-wear clothing, the key to this excellent fit often involves expert alterations.

Alterations are NOT included in the price of your dress. Our experienced seamstress is here several days a week to help our customers to look their best.

It is important to remember a few things about the alterations process:

You must schedule an appointment in advance to consult with the seamstress. Schedule early! Depending upon the extent of alterations needed, you may require two or more appointments.

For wedding gown alterations, schedule 3 months before the event. For other dresses, schedule 1 month in advance.

You should be on time for your appointment and bring your dress and the shoes and undergarments you plan to wear with your dress.

It is your responsibility to discuss the extent and price of your alterations with the seamstress during your first appointment.

If you decide not to have any alterations completed on your dress after the first appointment has taken place, you will be charged a cancellation fee of $40.

If you agree to go ahead with the alterations discussed at your first appointment, you are responsible for paying for those alterations in full at the first appointment. The actual alterations to your dress will not be started until these charges are paid in full.

In some cases, additional alterations may be discussed at later appointments. In these special instances, additional charges may apply.

A final fitting appointment is required to ensure a proper fit! If you miss your final fitting, it is your responsibility to make yourself available to meet with the seamstress. Otherwise, we cannot guarantee that your dress will fit properly.

We understand that sometimes things come up unexpectedly and schedules must be changed! If you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment, please call us 24 hours in advance. The store’s number is 540-347-5126. If we are unable to answer, please leave a voicemail.

Our experienced seamstress is the expert who is here to help you. Her prices are inclusive of their consultation time, garment preparation (pinning), the alterations process, and final steaming of the garment.

Sales consultants are able to offer basic information on alterations price ranges to customers, but the final cost of each alteration will be determined by the seamstress at the first appointment.

Hem: $46.00-$180.00

Zipper: $46.00-$72.00

Sides: $40.00-$65.00

Bustle: $17.00-$86.00

Shoulders: $35.00-$58.00

Straps: $17.00-$22.00

Hem sleeves: $35.00-$72.00

Gusset: $58.00-$115.00

Cups: $12.00-$14.00

Bust dart: $40.00-$50.00
